Here are 3 easy tips to keep your kids eyes happy and healthy! Don’t hold reading material or screens too close – THE ELBOW RULE – is where your child should try to keep an elbow-to-hand distance between anything they are viewing up close, and their eyes.

Try it yourself, and show them at home - make a fist, put it next to your eyes, and where your elbow sits is the closest any screen or book should get to your eyes when reading.

Our little patient`s parents noticed she was excessively squinting or covering one eye while visiting the beach and booked to see us.

An eye examination for young children may not entail the familiar letter charts designed for adults. Instead, Dr Tracy our optometrist will tailor a set of vision assessments appropriate for their age. She has special interests in children’s vision, myopia management, vision training and visual perception.

When should your children have a comprehensive eye test?
🌼Before they start school (at around 5 or 6 years old)
🪩Every year after that if they have no symptoms, as young eyes change as they grow
👓As soon as you can, if you’re worried about their eye health.

The cause is not only smoke but the toxins often in the smoke from burning plastics, treated timber, etc. Dr Tracy at h2 Vision Centres is available should you have any concerns.

Meet our optometrist Dr Tracy Hills!!
Tracy graduated in 1995 from Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Optometry) with First Class Honours and a University Medal. She has subsequently completed her Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics in 2011.

Tracy has practiced across the Sunshine Coast since graduating, looking after patients of all ages. She has special interests in children’s vision, myopia management, vision training and visual perception.
